We are the Sponsored Brand org within Amazon Advertising. Our vision is to make Amazon the best in class destination for shoppers to discover, engage and build affinity with brands , making shopping beautiful, delightful, & personal.

Our team scope is broad and impactful. Our team works on core Ad Serving services - a low-latency (55 ms), high TPS (500K at peak times), distributed system. These services serve both billions of Amazon shoppers and millions of Advertisers internationally. We are working on multiple initiatives with highest impact and visibility – all are critical, forward-looking, strategic opportunities for Amazon.

We are looking for a Sr. SDE who is excited about being part of a fast moving team, not afraid to dive deep and define product technical strategy and architecture. In this role you will work with business partners to design, implement and launch new ad solutions based on business objectives and timelines. You will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability, scalability and latency guarantees. The right candidate will possess strong technical skills, can dive deep with demonstrated experience leading medium to large distributed services, and will want to have a lasting impact in the Advertising space. This is a unique opportunity to stand at the intersection of e-commerce, advertising and state-of-the-art ML techniques.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
- Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture
- Evaluate and make decisions about the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Help establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture and engineering practices.
- Have unique exposure to technologies used in search / advertising / E-commerce platforms
- Work closely with our data-science and product managers to design experiments with machine learning / deep learning techniques to improve predictive models and infrastructure and implement end-to-end solutions
- Make significant contributions to the team roadmap and future planning
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, coding, troubleshooting and operational excellence
- Be a member of the Amazon-wide Software Development Community, participating in internal and external Meetups, Hackathons and Conferences

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
