Fire TV is reshaping the way millions of people watch, engage with, and enjoy entertainment content every day. We are seeking an experienced Sr. Data Engineer who is passionate about using data to surface customer insights that will influence the development of new and improved customer experiences on Fire TV. A successful candidate is an expert in Big Data engineering concepts, data architecture design, performance tuning, and data modeling. They are comfortable working independently in an ambiguous and fast- paced environment, and are able to think big while paying attention to detail. They can communicate with both technical experts and non-experts, and have an analytical mindset that helps them connect their work to the needs of their data customers.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, software developers, and business leaders to define data system requirements and provide solutions
- Develop robust, scalable and maintainable data systems with a combination of in-house tools and standard technologies (e.g. SQL, Python and Spark)
- Build with operational best practices (e.g. dashboarding and monitoring/alarming to ensure data integrity)
- Design and implement durable data models for FTV datasets
- Protect data to ensure customer trust

About the team
Our team is part of the Fire TV Experience org and is comprised of Business Intelligence Engineers and Analysts, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists. We take pride in building scalable, reliable, and trustworthy data products that empower our stakeholders to make data-driven decisions to improve the quality of the Fire TV and Alexa products they deliver to customers. We encourage leaders who foster cross-team collaboration and can drive consensus horizontally across teams. We are at our best when we have a deep understanding of how our data directly reflect customer experiences and can be used to surface customer needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses
- Experience working with a cloud services platform (specific experience with AWS technologies, e.g., Redshift, S3, EC2, is a plus but not required)
- Experience architecting large scale BI solutions
- Experience gathering business requirements and using industry standard business intelligence tools to extract data, formulate metrics and build reports
- Proven track record of successful communication of analytical outcomes, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
