The Solutions Architecture function operates under the following guiding principles:
Customer Best Interest: The best interest of the customer should be the primary factor in the guidance we provide, and the SA team will work to be perceived as a trusted consultant and virtual team member of the customer organization.
Business Opportunity Focus: The SA team is part of the Field Operations (i.e. Sales) organization, and as such, its primary purpose is to identify, develop, and realize business opportunities.
Architectural Integrity: The SA team will not compromise on architectural integrity in our guidance, and will recommend best-practice architectures, irrespective of any shorter-term gains. Longer-term customer satisfaction will ultimately be the biggest factor in growing the business.
Best Practices Body of Knowledge: Curating and proliferating architectural best practices for AWS workload design and development is a key accelerant to the business, and the SA team must take a leadership role in this regard.
Platform Improvement: The SA team is in a unique position to identify and understand technical issues and opportunities for the AWS Platform, and should champion these within the broader AWS organization.
Partner Ecosystem Imperative: A vibrant partner ecosystem is a necessity for our business to thrive, and therefore each of our initiatives should include partner ecosystem consideration.
Measurement and Systematic Orientation: While Solutions Architecture is still largely a craft that needs to be mastered through practice, there are many aspects of it that can be measured and/or approached systematically, and where possible we will strive to be data driven.
