ESG Business Engagement Lead, (FTC role - 1 year), Worldwide Sustainability

The ESG Reporting team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders’ expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.
We are looking for a ESG Business Engagement Lead, to own developing and scaling programs to support Amazon’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure processes. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a high level of collegiality, functioning as an ESG adviser to their respective business counterparts.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and operationalize a process to capture ESG reporting requirements to ESG data/metric providers across Amazon’s businesses.
- Communicate complex ESG concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-ESG professionals.
- Assess how upcoming ESG laws and regulations will impact Amazon businesses.
- Partner within teams to communicate data gaps, transition plans, policy needs and any business lead initiatives impacting the ESG disclosure processes.
A day in the life

You could start your day with an early meeting catching up with your team, brainstorming new ideas, self-studying the latest industry trends, or fire-fighting an urgent issue. One thing is certain - you will get to work with a wide group of interesting stakeholders from across the world and learn new things about Amazon business and operations every day.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant work experience, including building or leading a high profile programs with complex input from stakeholders.
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior management.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across internal and external organizations to engage, influence, build consensus, and drive resolution to challenging problems.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and experience conveying complex solutions/explanations in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in ESG reporting, climate risk assessments, accounting or tax.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ESG certifications or equivalent certifications.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements in sustainability.
- Curious, quick to assimilate information, detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow through.
- Ability to take ownership, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
