Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Selling Partner Financial Tech

DESCRIPTION

As Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer in the Selling Partner Financial Tech organization, you will own our data strategy for the end-to-end Selling Partner financial experience. You will work with a co-located team of Product Managers, Software Engineers, Financial and Accounting Analysts to drive towards our goals of improving the Selling Partner financial experience, reducing controllership risk and improving debt prevention and recovery. This will require you to: 1) define what metrics we should instrument for new products, and work closely with the engineering team on data instrumentation and building data pipelines, 2) own analytical deep dives to drive insights that shape our product investments, 3) continually improve our existing analytical products, 4) ensure the health of our financial cluster, and 5) own the metrics and reporting for monthly and quarterly business reviews. You will also have the opportunity to partner with a science team to shape how we leverage ML and AI throughout the financial experience, such as leveraging anomaly detection to prevent errors from being published in our financials.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter that can work independently in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with limited supervision. You must be a fast learner who can quickly absorb the nuances of Amazon's varied financial programs and processes. You need to be analytical in your decision making, with a demonstrated ability to drive issues to completion.

Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
• Interfacing with Product Managers, internal customers (such as business teams, accounting and finance analysts), gathering requirements and delivering business analysis.
• Producing written recommendations and insights for key stakeholders that will help shape effective strategies.
• Owning the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
• Solving complex business problems with analytically derived solutions, applying appropriate analytical best practices.


A day in the life
• You will meet with Accountants, Finance Analysts, and Product Managers to deeply understand the needs of our Customers.
• You will build net new reports and analytical tools for these Customers that will be used to support creating accurate, timely and complete financial statements for Amazon.
• You will brainstorm new ways for us to measure the success of our business, and then implement these metrics.
• You will be curious about our data, and drive insights that shape our product roadmap.
• You will advise Product Managers and Engineers on how to instrument our metrics.
• You will have the opportunity to shape how we use machine learning to drive results for our Customers.
• You will continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
• You will develop programs, methodologies, and reports for analyzing and presenting data.
• You will effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

The base salary for this position ranges from $97,400/year up to $162,600/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
