Online advertising includes the highest levels of challenge on the technical side, with high transactional loads, big data, modeling, cross-stack product and UX design, combined and directly connected with a marketplace of supply and demand. It is a high stakes, competitive industry, which attracts the highest level of research and engineering investments. Amazon is just getting started, and there is a lot of opportunity for seasoned talent to come in and significantly shape how advertising based monetization of ecommerce property takes shape on the web. The work developed in the team will become part of the “secret sauce” and core business playbook at the company level.

We are looking for an outstanding product leader that that has experience managing large-scale global products, has a track record for developing a vision, defining a strategy and building programs and features from the ground up. The candidate must be able to influence across multiple company organizations, be an exceptionally strong communicator and analytic thinker and have a history of delivering results. This person will have solved complicated problems with elegant, simple solutions. They must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. High judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytic talent, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities
Create effective mechanisms for understanding feature level opportunities.

Meet with customers and convert their feedback into concrete product improvements and milestones.

Work backwards from the end state for customers to define product and design requirements.

Develop the roadmap and drive product development

Unblock and expedite multiple engineering teams.

Successfully launch and ramp the product and features worldwide.

Establish and measure success criteria in ambiguous areas like performance optimization.

Represent the quality and growth of creatives in organization-wide business reviews and documents.

A day in the life
As a product leader on the Books Ads team you will work backward from the customer to customize the Amazon Ads experience for the publishing vertical. You will partner with engineering, science, and design to articulate and execute the strategy and roadmap for improving books advertising performance and customer experience for shoppers, readers, and book advertisers. This will entail setting the long-term vision while maintaining a high velocity of experimentation and launches. You will represent their business in reviews with senior leadership and key stakeholders across Amazon.

About the team
The Books Ads team exists to launch, accelerate, and differentiate the advertising business for the publishing category. We own the end-to-end advertising experience for readers, shoppers, publishers, and authors, including ad supply, ad creative, ad serving, and the user experience for books populations. With a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, we are growing fast to pursue a range of new opportunities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
- Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- 2+ years of end to end product delivery experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight
- Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
- MBA
- Superior verbal and written communications skills
- Experience in online advertising, analytics, and/or data science/machine learning
- A track record of building new, innovative, and engaging customer experiences informed by customer data from various sources (market research, internal data bases, A/B testing, user research)
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
- Experience delivering products for a global customer base

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
