Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal
DESCRIPTION
Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to fill the position of Corporate Counsel to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, AI/ML, database services and more. This attorney will primarily support the AWS Industries team and the AWS Strategy and Business Development Team. This candidate will have transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on commercial agreements, will provide ongoing legal counsel to business leaders, will advise on regulatory and compliance issues, and will assist with marketing-related activities. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and will be able to work independently and comfortably while making decisions in ambiguous situations.
Key job responsibilities
- Leading high-stakes, competitive, time-intensive negotiations with enterprise customers
- Evaluating and drafting custom contract terms
- Influencing customers and AWS business teams
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve customer issues and minimize risk to AWS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience practicing law
- 3+ years of experience practicing law in the field of healthcare law
- Complex transactional experience, including directly advising business teams on strategic deals
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Deep knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and federal and state healthcare regulatory regimes
- Ability to lead customer-facing negotiations and resolve customer questions and concerns, while providing consistent reporting on deal status and outcomes to stakeholders
- Ability to explain standard agreement terms to counterparties and negotiate fallback positions to those terms where appropriate
