Amazon Fleet Observer (AFO) team is searching for a strong technical, customer-focused Senior Technical Program Manager with skills that span software engineering, product management, and sheer vision. We leverage AWS technologies to operate on a global scale and deliver low-latency, highly-available services to enterprise customers. The Amazon Enterprise Engineering organization is tackling new challenges: we are building products and solutions to bring visibility into digital employee experience (DEX), improve security visibility, enforce compliance, and reduce operational cost via AWS-hosted services.

You must have strong pathfinding skills, solid business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams. We are looking for a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects. This position requires significant technical background, and be customer-focused with a passion for the solving Enterprise scale problems.

Key job responsibilities
1. Program Management: Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex technical programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and quality standards. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, data engineering, and machine learning, to drive successful program execution.

2. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive program plans, roadmaps, and strategies. Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and potential bottlenecks, ensuring seamless program execution.

3. Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, product managers, and engineering teams. Facilitate decision-making processes and ensure alignment across various stakeholder groups.

4. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and optimize processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance team productivity, efficiency, and overall program delivery.

5. Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing.

6. Technical Expertise: Possess a strong technical background and understanding of software development lifecycles, data engineering practices, and machine learning principles. Contribute to architectural decisions and provide technical guidance to the team.

A day in the life
As a Sr. TPM, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our mission-critical programs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, facilitating technical design reviews, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless program execution. You will lead planning sessions, manage project roadmaps, and make strategic decisions to overcome challenges and mitigate risks. Additionally, you foster a collaborative environment, and continuously improve processes to enhance productivity and efficiency. In this dynamic role, you will navigate a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and leverage your technical expertise to drive innovation and deliver high-quality solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
