DESCRIPTION

Amazon OpenSearch Service in AWS is seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer to help drive the evolution of our recently launched, next-generation operational analytics experience. Our mission is to make OpenSearch the central platform and single pane of glass for AWS observability, offering a streamlined, scalable solution for real-time log analytics and monitoring.

As a Senior SDE on this team, you’ll play a key role in designing and building innovative frontend features and intuitive UIs for Amazon OpenSearch Service. You’ll bring strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, and React, along with solid experience in observability and log analytics. Familiarity with AWS tools like CloudWatch and OpenSearch Dashboards is a strong plus.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the development of front-end features for a modern, unified analytics experience
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers across the organization
- Deliver new features that elevate user experience and make data analysis more efficient for our customers
- Engage with teams across AWS to ensure a cohesive, high-quality experience for users of AWS observability solutions

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in building and maintaining complex front-end applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, and React
- Strong domain knowledge in observability, log analytics, and operational data monitoring
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch and OpenSearch Dashboards is a plus
- Strong collaboration and technical leadership skills, with experience leading small teams to deliver high-impact solutions

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.


Key job responsibilities
- Work backward from requirement, build solution to fulfill our customer needs
- Streamlines and aligns team (or org) processes to provide maximum business value. establishes design, code and testing standards
- Draws the right balance of coding projects, influencing the team to develop PRFAQs, design, architecture and insisting high standards on operational excellence
- Continuous refactoring to simplify architecture. Sets a high bar on OE. Insists FullCD, Anvil Certified and IMR are considered in every project. Encourages away team development to strengthen org platforms

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
