Manager, Software Development, Marketing Incrementality Measurement

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a large team of highly talented engineers, and own cross-functional projects. You will be at the forefront of enabling MLOps and build highly intuitive UX that connect business with science and data.
Successful candidates will be enthusiastic about using data to make decisions, have impeccable written and verbal communication skills, and be able to solve complex problems involving concepts such as causal inference. Such candidates will be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions that navigate multiple points of view to address stakeholder needs. They will become a key part of a high-performing team’s continual growth and evolution.
Key job responsibilities
A Software Development Manager in our team leads the group from the front. They will be responsible for mentoring, growing and supporting the team in their short-term and long-term goals. They will be responsible for managing the operational health, goal delivery and team health. They will represent their team in forums, build their 1-year and 3-year vision. Most importantly, they need to focus on team's culture; and ensure that they and their team are enjoying their work.
A day in the life
A day in a life of SDM in our team includes (but is not limited to) working on vision, architecture designs, brainstorming with other engineers and leaders, risk mitigation, mentoring/supporting their team, planning their day-week-month. We have weekly demos, happy hours; bi-weekly retros, priority alignment; and monthly goal tracking; and quarterly team events.
About the team
We started a new team in 2020 with a small number of 6 people, to build user experience for a highly technical concept. Over the last 4 years, our team grew to 30+ people (Engineers, Scientists, Product Manager, Data Engineer, Economists, Business Intelligence Engineers, and Interns) and we're just getting started.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience with MLOps, including building resilient, scalable machine learning systems

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
