OpenSearch Sr. Developer Advocate, Open Source Strategy & Marketing
DESCRIPTION
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Senior Developer Advocate to join the Open Source Strategy & Marketing team. Our creative, experienced, and energetic organization is responsible for helping to drive the development and adoption of OpenSearch. In this role, you’ll combine your technical skills, passion, and creativity to generate grass-roots attention and support for OpenSearch among key industry innovators and technologists.
Ideally, you’re someone who comes from a software development, database, or SRE background; but you love to be on stage or on screen guiding the community towards technologies that you believe in. You have immediate credibility with startups, developers, architects, and technology leaders. You’re excited about open source software and search engines. You love to share your passion with others and you exhibit judgment in selecting strategic opportunities to do so.
This Developer Advocate role will have substantial travel to connect with the OpenSearch community. Between travel, you’ll interact with community actively on GitHub by reviewing and commenting on code, contributing to the OpenSearch docs, and by creating written content in the public on the OpenSearch website.
Key job responsibilities
* Creating and maintaining relevant content (demos, videos, blogs, podcasts, livestreams, etc), covering OpenSearch along with emerging technologies and industry developments.
* Gaining industry recognition and credibility as a regular attendee and speaker at third-party technology conferences, shows, and press events.
* Curating, developing, and delivering compelling presentations to help drive awareness and adoption of OpenSearch.
* Maintaining a credible presence in social media
* Ability to travel (including internationally when needed) and ability to work autonomously
A day in the life
As an influencer, you'll use your unique personality and authentic content to help attract contributors and users to OpenSearch and keep them engaged and inspired to build.
As a part of the OpenSearch project, you'll engage with Builders to identify and anticipate user challenges. You will represent the voice of Builders with internal service teams and leverage the data you gathered from the community to help influence the project.
As an ambassador, you'll build long-term relationships with members of the OpenSearch community. You'll work with others in the OpenSearch community to identify areas to engage, amplify the materials and resources you create, and identify areas of improvement in the project's public content.
About the team
AWS Developer Experience is a technical marketing team focused on winning the hearts and minds of Builders at scale. The Open Source Strategy and Marketing (OSSM - pronounced “awesome”) team inside Developer Experience includes veterans that have worked for some of the industry’s top open source companies and foundations. We help service teams, the field, and others effectively engage with project communities, media and analysts, foundations and partners, and others in the broader open source community.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply.
