Supplier Quality Manager-Packaging, Quality & Lean Manufacturing
DESCRIPTION
Supply Quality Manager strives to be the leader in supplier quality management and be able to scale to support Amazon Kindle’s engagement from CM (contract manufacturing) to ODM (original design manufacturer). Key responsibilities include developing approved Suppliers for Mass Production of high quality parts. Manage suppliers in Mass Production to continuously produce high quality parts consistently, with improvement in yield quarter to quarter. Qualify and bring-up of new suppliers to support increased capacity and/or new programs (addressing all aspects of supplier process readiness).
Key job responsibilities
This role is responsible for:
Sourcing Support
· Lead and conduct potential supplier qualification audits for both system and process levels
· Support Global Commodity Managers in the development of new suppliers or existing suppliers of new components to improve reliability and quality Play Key role in New Product Launch and supplier development
· Drive suppliers to produce the highest quality parts by performing New Product Readiness Reviews and giving Ramp Authorization
· Ensure the supplier is ready for the ramp ups with parts that are ready to be put into the devices
· Understand supplier corrective actions and be able to describe their experience relative to processes
Strong Problem-Solving player
· Identify potential problems and improvements with design of new products, specifications, components, and materials
· Anticipates potential problems, identifies and resolves performance issues and problems that affect the reliability, maintainability Cross functional team work
· Partners with Global Commodity Managers to reduce life cycle cost of materials and components while maintaining a high sensitivity to quality
· Maintain communication with suppliers, Global Commodity Managers, and other internal teams on appropriate issues and improvements
· Interface with functional manager to establish daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals and milestones
Enhance Sustaining Quality and Standardization
· Managing suppliers in Mass Production to continuously produce high quality parts consistently
· Establish and implement processes for ensuring that all components sourced in China meet acceptable and recognized industry standards in terms of test, sampling, materials
· Collecting data and compiling supplier quality scorecards as key input to QBR; Present it to suppliers and lead the actions to improve the supplier
· Maintain records for supplier inspections, audits, and corrective actions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Good communication skills.
• Strong leadership, influence ability and decision-making ability
• Strong packaging related experience includes the capability of reviewing DFM, process qualification, problem solving
• Strong ability in diving deep and problem solving
• Solid understanding on quality tools such as statistical process control, such as Pareto charts/8D problem solving, FMEA, GR&R, FAI (first article inspection), Cpk (statistical process capability), PPAP etc.
• Bachelor’s in packaging or mechanical or engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing and quality environment
• Be willing to travel frequently (domestic and international)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiar with consumer electronic products packaging process like Corrugation, Printing, Lamination, Assy etc.
• Experience on DFM, DOE & Hypothesis Testing will be a plus
• Able to use Minitab to perform data analysis and make sound decisions
• GB/BB and CQE/CQM, auditor qualification
• 3+ years working experience in managing supplier base
