Business Intel Engineer I, Global Financial Audit

Amazon is seeking a BI Engineer to support its Global Financial Audit program. The BIE will partner with Global Stores, Finance and Tech teams to support various data mining, analytical, planning, reporting and audit needs. The person in this position will play a key role in supporting the development of tools, new audit logic and reports used by business and finance teams to build a profitable business. This person will own the production and delivery of a portfolio of standard reports/audit extracts regularly used by the audit team to collect missed funding and/or eliminate leakage in contracts.
The candidate will be detail oriented and driven to provide insightful and timely information to customers. This position is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, and enhance partnerships between the audit team and various business and IT groups. Candidates for this role are expected to have excellent communication and organization skills and should be able to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to accounting, finance, business and IT leadership. The candidate must be analytical, have superior attention to detail, and the ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in cross-functional teams, and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning audit queries, debugging errors/issues and resolving blockers in workflows
- Diving deep to fully understand the ETL pipelines, report architecture and metric definitions
- Developing SQL queries and support data extraction for new audit development projects
- Supporting team members in executing technology enabled automation projects
- Communicating with upstream IT teams on audit tool enhancements and backend query improvements
- Leading ad-hoc business and financial deep dive analyses with findings presented to senior leadership globally
About the team
Global Financial Audit (GFA) is a Finance function operating through both internal and external teams with the objective to recover missed or underbilled funding, overpayments and savings due to Amazon from current and prior periods. Scope includes Stores Vendors (Inventory), Non-Inventory Vendors (construction, contract compliance etc.), Corporate, Subsidiaries and affiliated business units, wherever possible. In addition, GFA works proactively with upstream tech and process owning teams to identify and reduce defects based on root cause reporting owned by GFA, and focuses on vendor experience improvements by reviewing vendor contacts/correspondence and monthly vendor experience metrics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
- Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree, or Advanced technical degree
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience with statistical analysis, co-relation analysis
