DESCRIPTION

The Risk Mining Operations (RMO) Team engages in identifying the risk patterns in seller registrations while working closely with the Risk Mining Analytics team to ensure seamless resolution to difficult & complex cases raised across from different businesses at Amazon. RMO plays a critical role in identifying bad actor patterns and providing operational insights through deep dives and investigations on system and manual misses. Risk Mining Investigators are deeply knowledgeable of seller behaviours, tools and resources offering end to end resolution in identifying risks and ensuring right controls are in place, creating long-term, systemic solutions for a world-class Customer experience. RMO is seeking committed & results oriented candidates with a proven track record to join Registration and Compliance Operations (RCO). Candidates will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to investigation and elimination of online e-commerce fraud. This position relies on analytical and critical thinking problem solving skills, including the ability to recommend solutions in an ambiguous & ever evolving environment.

Key job responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Conducting investigations into allegations of organized fraud or abuse on and off the Amazon platform.
• Using a combination of manual and automated tools to obtain information & reporting bugs and tool improvement ideas.
• Taking appropriate action to identify and help minimize the risk posed by fraud or abuse patterns and trends.
• Analyse Potentially Falsified Document (PFD) / Falsified Documents (FD) data to confirm account level Modus Operandi (MO).
• Perform dive-deep into the tasks reported through trouble tickets, checking registration history of sellers etc.
• Perform dive-deep by taking samples of sellers from the queues in case anomalies or unexpected queue spikes are observed,
• Take actions on known MOs in the queues, either bulk action or instruct investigators to take manual deny actions.
• Flag new risk attribute to RM analytics team and suggest changes in SOP if the process requires enhancement to close loop holes for bad actors.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• English or Chinese language proficiency is required
• Experience as an Investigator or a similar job for at least 12 months
• Candidate has not been on any active Coaching Plan/Performance Improvement plan and/or issued with any Written Warnings within the past 12 months
• Candidate has consistently met all L3 metrics for the past 4 quarters and has consistently met all L4 metrics for at least the prior 2 quarters
• Serves as the primary resource, escalation point and Subject Matter Expert
• Self-driven & motivated individual with demonstrated ability to perform well independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in data analysis in Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative discipline such as Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Operational Research or Engineering
• Substantial experience working in Analytics / Business Intelligence environment
• Experience in working with databases and SQL in a business environment
• Demonstrated use of analytical packages and query languages such as SAS,SPSS and SQL
• Prior experience in design and execution of analytical projects
• Worked extensively in large scale data bases and data warehouses
• Experience in e-commerce / on-line companies in fraud / risk control functions
• Coding skills in one of the modern languages Java, Python, Scala, R
• Experience with visualization technologies such as Tableau
• Experience/knowledge of advanced machine learning techniques such as GBM, random forest, etc.
• Compelling communication and influencing skills and participation in winning the support of management and influence the course of major strategic decisions.
