The Technical Content Experience (TCX) group, also known as AWS Documentation is looking for a programmer writer to support AWS Cloud Governance services. These services include AWS Config, AWS Control Tower, AWS Audit Manager, and AWS Organizations. Cloud Governance services help customers establish a set of rules, processes, and reports to follow standards and company best practices.

Ideally, you have both a technical background that facilitates easy interaction with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation. This is an opportunity to explain complex information concisely. You will become part of a customer-obsessed, dynamic team of talented and highly technical communicators. Key job responsibilities
* Author and deliver high-quality, public-facing documentation and code sample content that is accurate, discoverable, relevant, usable, organized, and aligned with AWS style and standards
* Use subject-matter expertise in your product and its relevant technologies to review product planning and design documents, and provide feedback to improve the customer experience
* Develop, negotiate, and drive content strategy in alignment with product strategy
* Engage with customers, gather data and feedback, and report insights around content performance metrics
* Develop scripts, sample code, and technical procedures that are easy to use
* Write customer-facing text for consoles and context-sensitive help panes
* Help hire and develop writers on the team
* Identify and drive opportunities to improve team efficiency

About the team
The AWS Documentation team writes and provides support for a diverse technical audience, such as developers, DevOps professionals, IT professionals, and technical program managers. On behalf of our customers, we innovate, we research, we learn, and we experiment. We collaborate with product managers to understand our customers’ needs. We partner with software developers to learn about the inner workings of AWS services so that we can influence product design and the customer experience with the product. We know that what we do makes a difference to our customers. We work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
* A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience such as Software Engineers, System Administrators, or IT professionals.
* Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
* Ability to read and write basic example code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, or Go

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience working on content that scales across multiple products and requires cross-team collaboration
* Experience working with XML, markdown, or HTML
* Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
* Experience working directly with teams of software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $173,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
