Software Dev Engineer, AWS OpenSearch
DESCRIPTION
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
The AWS OpenSearch team is currently inviting front-end, back-end, or full-stack software developers to join us. If you wish to participate in building a distributed search and log analysis platform, and are eager to leverage artificial intelligence technology to transform how users manage data in the cloud and extract insights from vast datasets, while also looking to tackle various challenges alongside a talented group of colleagues in a rapidly evolving startup environment, we welcome you to submit your resume.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Software developer on the AWS OpenSearch team, you will:
* Design, develop and support a world-class search platform serving individuals and businesses of all sizes
* Produce bullet-proof code that is robust, efficient and maintainable
* Work on challenging problems in areas such as data storage, query optimization, JVM performance optimization, security, machine learning and more.
* Apply advanced AI technology to help users utilize our products better and more efficiently
* Maintain team's github repo and interact with open source community

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 4+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
