Software Development Manager (L6), FTVX Team (Whole World)
DESCRIPTION
FireTV Chennai is looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented software development managers who has experience in managing and delivering innovative, mission critical, high volume systems that powers our world-class content forward experience for millions of customers. As a software manager in this team, you will lead your team of SDEs and collaborate with other SDEs/SDMs across the organization to develop, test, and deploy services. You will be customer obsessed, and thrives in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment, solid communication and project management skills. You will help engineers navigate priorities and communicate clear expectations with customers. You will possess knowledgeable about the architecture of distributed systems and software development life cycle. A successful candidate will have a passion for innovation, interest in cutting-edge technology, and excitement about working in a high-impact domain.
Key job responsibilities
* Help develop technical roadmap, strategy, customer experience and roadmap for FireTV product initiatives
* Facilitate the technical architecture between multiple complex systems.
* Create buy-in for the technical vision and strategy both internally and with key external partners
* Proactively identify and resolve technical risks and issues that may impair the team's ability to meet strategic or technical goals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional team to deliver the best product for our customers
* Experience leading a high performance team and a track record of mentoring
* Communicate clearly to leadership the risks, successes, and roadblocks as part of your product execution

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
