Are you a unique leader who can balance meticulous deal planning with the gravitas to engage directly with C-suite executives and government officials?

The APJ Strategic Sales team is seeking a Senior Strategic Lead to develop our most complex and strategic deals for public sector customers across Japan. This is an opportunity to lead virtual deal teams in helping customers envision and achieve their transformation goals.

As a Senior Strategic Sales lead, you will:
- Leverage cross-vertical expertise across public sector domains (e.g., government, education, research, healthcare) and a breadth of functional expertise (e.g., complex sales, pursuit program management) to work with our most senior executive customers.
- Provide direction, guidance and sound judgment to account owners and specialist teams located throughout the Asia-Pacific region to support your customers in Japan.
- Collaborate closely with diverse AWS teams, including sales, partner, business development, legal and public policy, as well as AWS leadership, to identify, develop and secure strategic opportunities.
- Passionately develop win plans, lead consultative selling with executive stakeholders, and seamlessly integrate AWS Partner capabilities.

Key job responsibilities
- Leveraging your deep industry expertise and executive presence to steer account teams and drive alignment on complex, high-stakes pursuits to build deal strategies.
- Working in lockstep with AWS leadership to chart the course for our most ambitious public sector initiatives, ensuring they are fully resourced and positioned for success.
- Influencing C-level executives and government leaders to build trusted, long-lasting relationships. Establishing yourself as a trusted advisor who can navigate ambiguity, make crucial decisions, and mobilize the full power of AWS to the benefit of our government, education, and healthcare customers.
- Building the case for change and preparing board-ready presentations and briefings to communicate with senior executive stakeholders.
- Growing the net new originated pipeline for the Japan business through your deal-shaping expertise.

A day in the life
- Start the day reviewing the latest pipeline updates and customer engagement plans with the Japan regional sales team
- Present to the CEO of a major government agency to understand their digital transformation priorities and pain points
- Facilitate a workshop with cross-functional AWS specialists to ideate innovative solutions tailored to the customer's needs and build the win strategy
- Craft a compelling business case and executive presentation for a multi-million dollar transformation initiative
- Drive a deal review with AWS sales leadership to align on pursuit strategy and secure necessary approvals and resources

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of technology related sales, business development or equivalent experience
- Experience working with and presenting to C-level executives, IT, and lines of businesses across organizations or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing large-scale technology deals
- Experience creating and implementing long-term transformational account strategies in a customer-facing role or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience selling cloud solutions at a software company or equivalent
- Experience with AWS and technology as a service (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS)
- 9+ years of technology related sales, business development or equivalent experience
- 9+ years of leading high value technology deals as the main point of contact
- The ideal candidate will have a background in large deal modelling, strategic pursuits, consulting or business development, as well as a strong understanding of cloud adoption trends and challenges in the Japanese public sector. You will need to think big and strategically about the customer's mission, then build and convey compelling value propositions.
