Power Solutions Manager, EMEA Energy & Water

The AWS Infrastructure Energy Team (IET) team is looking for a Power Solutions Manager to own the origination and execution of energy projects that enable and optimize AWS access to grid connection capacity across the EMEA region. You will be responsible for originating, evaluating and contracting of power solutions that combine renewable energy with storage solutions.
The successful candidate will have experience in power project development, transmission, distribution, energy markets, Legal, and Strategic Planning across major power systems in the EU, UK. They will have the ability to identify technical power solutions that can meet the needs of specific grid operators (TSOs) across EMEA, drive commercial terms to meet technical requirements by collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team across energy, engineering, legal, policy, PR and community teams. They must understand the nuances of utility tariffs, power project development and power purchasing along with industry trends in generation technology and energy policy. They must be able to drive key stakeholders across Amazon teams and also with utilities and energy companies to deliver such projects. You will have a results orientated approach, strong analytical skillset, financial acumen and proven track record of working with utilities, regulators and developers across the energy industry.

Key job responsibilities
• Support development and execution of energy strategy for AWS data centers in EMEA.
• Originate, evaluate, and execute power generation solutions in EMEA
• Drive due-diligence on specific power projects and recommendations to leadership on specific power solutions that meet AWS’ needs
• Own the power projects plan for the EMEA region and deliver by working collaboratively with Amazon Infrastructure team
• Build relationships with senior leaders and other stakeholders in energy, power and utilities companies.
• Analyze trends and regulations in the clean energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

•10+ years of demonstrated experience working across utility / energy generation / grid infrastructure
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required
• 3+ years of demonstrable International business experience in power project development and negotiating complex energy agreements
• Proven experience managing multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
• Proven track record for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, senior executives and stakeholders in high-impact situations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree (MBA/MS/JD) preferred
• Proven background in power project development, renewables, investments, and regulatory models in the EU and the UK, leveraging business judgement to consider both strategic and tactical goal
• Proven experience working with public utility companies, energy generator, grid companies and associated supply chain
• 2+ years of team building skills; ability to drive strategy and build high frequency teams
• Existing active network to project developers, energy generators, grid companies, associated supply chain as well as funds, financiers, governments and/or multilaterals in the EMEA region;
• Experience with IT infrastructure, data centres and cloud services
