The Sr Manager, Data Engineering role in ITA is responsible for leading a portfolio of data engineering teams and services to solve multiple complex problems related to all aspects of hiring. The Sr Manager, Data Engineering will partner with multiple stakeholders to efficiently deliver data infrastructure, data modelling, insights, engineering for data science and model technical excellence in the data space. The role is a leader of multiple teams requiring proven people management experience with an ability to define and deliver strategy across a global technical ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about simple and elegant software solutions, customer-centric products, and utilizing agile development processes. You will look at problems holistically, beyond the borders of your team, and thrive on solutions that require thinking at multiple levels, from strategic to business tactical to system goals to specific interfaces. You create positive collaborative outcomes and ensure solutions are reliable, scalable and secure, and always keep the customer's best interest in mind.


Key job responsibilities
As a senior manager of Data Engineering, you will lead multiple teams of builders to define, drive and deliver on Intelligent Talent Acquisition technology vision. You'll develop your team of highly motivated and talented builders who can collaborate with product managers, software engineers, scientists, data experts and business leaders to build robust solutions. The primary responsibilities include:

1. Setting the org priorities while balancing customer, stakeholder and business needs.
2. Defining the long term technical vision for the org that meets business needs in scalable ways.
3. Delivering high quality data engineering as well as rapid prototypes to gather user feedback and data.
4. Collaborating with product and business leaders to translate business needs to software solutions.
5. Hire and develop builders in the organization.

About the team
The Intelligent Talent Acquisition team has existed since 2019 and grew significantly in 2024 through the combination of smaller engineering and analytics teams.

The team is diverse; its leadership team comes from engineering, operations, science, I/O psychology, and business intelligence backgrounds.

Intelligent Talent Acquisition is the largest data and science team involved in hiring at Amazon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of data engineering experience
- 5+ years of data engineering team management experience
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and development teams
- Experience managing globally distributed teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working with multiple science teams as customers
- Experience working with human resources related data and associated policies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $182,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $314,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
