This is not a corporate, remote, or office-based position. This is a full-time, entry level position located within a grocery store environment at an Amazon Fresh store.

As an Assistant Manager, you will bring Amazon’s customer obsession to life in a grocery environment. You will direct day-to-day store operations while leading a team of engaged grocery associates while providing a one of a kind shopping experience for customers. You will play a vital role in maintaining a vibrant store culture based on customer obsession, trust, respect, continuous learning, safety, and fun.

Assistant Managers can expect to work 5 days a week & 10-hour shifts (50 hours). Shifts vary by site, but, may include early morning (4am) start times or late evening (12am) end time based on business need.

Compensation: from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $67,800/year base pay, sign on payments, and stock. Please see below for more information.

This role will be located at an Amazon Fresh Store in or near one of the following greater metro areas (within 50 miles): Los Angeles, CA, Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Manassas, VA, and Seattle, WA.

Key job responsibilities
• Act as the manager on duty in Amazon Fresh grocery store environment.
• Drive positive customer and employee experience.
• Manage a team of associates while relaying expectations, managing performance, providing feedback, and supporting career development.
• Delegate effectively to drive results in your store, including executing standard operating procedures, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing solutions.
• Maintain a culture of engagement by routinely listening to feedback from leaders, associates, and customers.
• Identify areas of opportunity, determine root causes, and seek support to implement solutions for continuous improvement.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment for employees, customers, and store products.
• Stand/walk during shifts lasting 10 hours.
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach.
• Must be able to work shift patterns including weekends, early mornings, late nights, and/or holidays.
• Up to 50% Travel may be required to support various Amazon Fresh sites throughout North America.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree with a conferral date between May 2023 and August 2025
• Pursuing Bachelors Degree in Business/Management, Retail, Hospitality, or related fields.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Customer-facing grocery or retail industry experience.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working independently in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and implement effective solutions.
• Demonstrated success in problem solving and delivering results.
• Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, and develop high-performing teams.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $75,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
