Key job responsibilities
•Lead the development of algorithms for image enhancement and color/contrast optimization.
•Conduct image quality assessment and implement perceptual image processing techniques.
•Utilize rendering techniques to improve visual fidelity and color accuracy for various display standards.
•Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to define, execute, and test product features.
•Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of display assembly and associated control electronics.
•Utilize expertise in color vision science to inform image processing decisions and optimizations; conduct psycho visual studies to validate perceptual effects.
About the team
Our team is dedicated to designing and integrating display modules for Kindle and Echo devices. We work collaboratively to meet end product requirements, investigating various display modules, integrating sub-components from vendors, and testing performance across optical, electrical, mechanical, and process capabilities. With a startup mentality, we explore new technologies to enhance our products, building demos and architecture documents for Proof-Of-Concept evaluations. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- 5+ years of experience in the display industry.
- Deep understanding of display metrology, photometry, and color science.
- Strong background in image processing algorithms and techniques including the ability to develop and implement algorithms for image enhancement.
- Ability to prototype algorithms with MATLAB, Python, C#, C++.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
- Experience with image processing libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, scikit-image, or MATLAB Image Processing Toolbox.
- Experience in display system bring-up, debug, fault detection, root cause analysis, and failure analysis.
- Proven subject matter expertise in EPD/OLED/LCD panel design, front-of-screen quality definition, display materials and processing.
- Prior knowledge in feature extraction, segmentation, registration, and object recognition, machine learning, and generative AI techniques.
- Good problem solver, strong communication skills, and ability to work across groups.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
