DESCRIPTION

Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated engineer to architect, design, and develop innovative capabilities across highly-scalable robotic systems. You will architect, design and implement software that controls the movement of hundreds of thousands of robotic drives within Amazon's Robotics fulfillment network. Our team's software is at the heart of ensuring Amazon’s retail customers get their packages on time.

You will have opportunities to collaborate and work with firmware engineers, applied scientists, data scientists and cross-functional teams on cutting-edge automation solutions for Amazon's ever-growing robotic fleet.


Key job responsibilities
* Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
* Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
* Work with stakeholders across organization to iterate on design and implementation.
* Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
* Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation and emulators and with live robotic equipment
* Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback
* Mentor other engineer team members.

About the team
As a Robotic Movement software engineer, you design and deliver cloud-based, high-performance software that controls Amazon's world-wide fleet of mobile robots. The service-based software architecture is mainly written in Java and built using AWS products. Our team balances building new services to meet the needs of our growing customer base and extending existing services by developing new algorithms or by optimizing application performance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Strong background or familiarity with algorithms and system design used to solve complex problems for highly-scalable systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading/supporting an engineering team
- Strong communication skills, ability to support and collaborate work well in a team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years professional experience preferred with a strong background with algorithms used to solve complex problems for highly-scalable systems
