The Modeling & Optimization (MOP) team uses mathematical optimization, algorithm design, statistics, and machine learning to improve decision-making capabilities across Amazon Worldwide Operations and Logistics. We support multiple businesses, coordinating solutions to maintain a comprehensive and objective view while delighting our customers.
We focus on transportation topology, labor and resource planning, routing science, system configuration accuracy, and process optimization. We create models to simulate, optimize, predict, and control the fulfillment network to reduce cost and improve speed and customer experience.

Xiaoyan
Xiaoyan joined Amazon in 2019 after nine years in the railroad industry. When searching for a job, she looked for a company that embraced science and technology in both planning and operations. Amazon was a perfect fit, as we are constantly improving the efficiency and capability of our fulfillment network.
Brayan
Brayan was the first in his family to go to college and has worked as a coach and unloaded linehaul trucks. Having a personal history with cancer and a family history with auto-immune disease prompted Brayan to attend graduate school for a degree in biomedical science. After completing his PhD in biostatistics, Brayan rejoined the Modeling and Optimization (MOP) team (he was an intern the summer before graduation).
