Communications and Corporate Responsibility

Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR) focuses on strengthening Amazon’s reputation and trust with customers by educating the world about Amazon’s products and services, and how we support employees, small businesses, partners, content creators, developers, the economy, the environment, and communities where we operate.

CCR works across major areas, such as Communications, Community Impact, and Sustainability. See below for additional information.

  • Communications

At Amazon, our communications teams are dedicated to developing customer-centric narratives that highlight the company’s products, services, and content strategies. This involves working across media relations, internal communications, and social channels.

Our public relations teams cultivate strong partnerships with media to share Amazon’s story worldwide. Our internal communicators keep Amazonians informed and engaged: delivering timely updates and fostering community within our workforce. Our social and campaigns team connects with our customers through AboutAmazon.com, as well as our social channels, including @AmazonNews X, @Amazon LinkedIn, and @InsideAmazon Facebook and Instagram.

  • Amazon Community Impact (ACI)

We look to leverage our scale for good and use our ability to innovate quickly to strengthen local communities. Our entire culture is built around solving ‘impossible’ problems, which is why we’re able to take a different, more hands-on approach than most.

We believe we can make the biggest difference by working side by side with community partners. ACI has launched and scaled a multitude of programs, including, but not limited to, the Amazon Future Engineer program, the Housing Equity Fund, Disaster Relief, and Amazon’s Global Month of Volunteering.

  • Sustainability

At Amazon we strive to be Earth’s most customer-centric company. With this focus on customers comes a need to address the challenges they face, including issues like climate change and social inequity.

In 2019 we co-founded The Climate Pledge, committing to reach net zero carbon by 2040. Amazon has made significant, industry-leading investments to decarbonize our operations, from our logistics network to how we engage with suppliers. Beyond our climate work, Amazon has strong initiatives focused on protecting natural resources, advancing human rights, and engaging the communities in which we operate.

What advice do you have for people interested in CCR?

Be curious about the unknown. Given the depth and breadth of impact that Amazon has across the world, it’s important to recognize there will always be something to learn. A successful Amazonian is someone who proactively seeks to be informed on things they don’t know yet.

What excited you most about joining Amazon?

Working at a place you believe in. Working with people you believe in to push you out of your comfort zone and have hard discussions with to make the right decision for the customer. Believing in those Amazonian processes like doc reads and working backwards.

What brought me back was the ability to work hard at a super high level and have like-minded, high-bar people around me. People insisting on the highest standards, living the Leadership Principles every day, challenging the status quo, and delivering something that’s better than it was yesterday.

    What’s your favorite Amazon memory?

Participating in Delivering the Future 2023 in Seattle. I was able to facilitate tours for hundreds of reporters around the Spheres, assist in showcasing amazing new technology, and connect with countless new Amazonians.

It was so fun to be able to use my college experience coordinating summer camps to assist in keeping Delivering the Future on track. I can’t wait to expand my horizons and be part of more amazing events like this in the future.
