"Amazon gave me the opportunity to use my two favorite leadership principles - learn and be curious and dive deep - and be totally immersed in software development. Amazon Technical Academy (ATA) transformed my career at Amazon and I am grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity." |
Renise
Software Development Engineer
Renise joined Amazon in July 2019 as a Seasonal Sortation Associate at DAT1 in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2020, she was promoted to be an Interim Learning Coordinator. During this time, she discovered an amazing opportunity to become a Software Development Engineer through Amazon Technical Academy (ATA) and applied in late summer 2020 and was accepted in the fall for the January 2021 cohort. Just before joining ATA, she was a Central Ops Learning Seasonal War Room PA during peak 2020 to support learning in the United States and Canada.
Amazon gave her the opportunity to use her two favorite leadership principles - learn and be curious and dive deep - and be totally immersed in software development. ATA transformed her career at Amazon and she is grateful for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Since becoming a full time SDE, she has had the opportunity to be a part of her team's goal to ensure the success and satisfaction of Amazon Flex's Delivery Partners and ultimately our customers. Her proudest moment so far was the opportunity to dive deep and successfully prepare a key service to scale and handle the increase in Delivery Partner requests during and after Prime Day 2022.
"Being a veteran and gay I wanted to promote DEI across the EU. I got the possibility to design the Amazon Flex EU Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy, which is designed to further foster a culture where every Amazonian feels safe and empowered to bring their authentic self to work." |

Daniel
Program Manager
As a former RAF Officer, Daniel transferred his leadership experience to successfully manage his first Outbound Ship Dock with a team of 50 associates. Daniel was quickly able to adapt to the fast pace and supportive Amazon culture. “Amazon has a strong support network for veterans, there is always someone to reach out to for help and advice!” Former military personnel are able to utilize their experience to adapt quickly to the changing operational environment and grow into stretch roles. “Initially joining as an Area Manager was the first step towards unlocking my civilian career, I am now loving my role as an Amazon Flex Launch & Expansion Program Manager” he says.
“Outside of work, I like spending my free time with my friends and going traveling outside of the UK. I also dedicate some of my free time to the RAF reserves, which Amazon supports me with extra leave to achieve my required minimum duty days”
Leah |
"I founded a team called Driver Science in 2019 out of a need to create human-centric research and science programs and insights to bring objectivity to decision making. Over the years, the team has seen tremendous growth, with the work impacting nearly every aspect of the experience of delivery drivers, world-wide." |
Leah
Research Science
Leah joined Amazon in 2018 in Last Mile after 10 years in electrochemistry and materials science for energy storage. With a strong demonstrated history of innovation and a passion for helping scientists succeed in their careers, Leah was drawn to Amazon for the large, complex challenges, and the corporate-wide appetite for ground-breaking, step-change ideas. Within Amazon, Driver Science pushes the boundaries of research, covering spaces such as delivery quality, safety, fraud prevention, driver sentiment, and targeted communications. Leah leverages her rich history as a science manager as well as a wide science breadth to help her team identify impactful and novel new opportunities. As a Senior Manager of Research Science, Leah leads a multi-disciplinary team, ranging from PhD psychologists to machine learning scientists, to understand Last Mile delivery driver behaviors and provide support for them to succeed.
Outside of work, Leah enjoys spending time with her wife and their two children, paddleboarding, and attempting to achieve a perfectly groomed lawn.
