Sonia P.
Senior Manager, Program Management
Sonia is a Senior Manager within Amazon Logistics (AMZL). The mission of her team is to plan and execute programs of change for AMZL EU, with a focus on further optimisation of existing systems and processes.
Her proudest moment at Amazon was at the beginning of her current role. She was part of the AMZL Business Development team and actively participated in the launch of AMZL in Italy in 2016 and Spain in 2017. “Seeing a strong and unified Operations team emerge from day one was a fantastic experience and very rewarding not only professionally but also personally. I met some very talented people with whom I keep contact, and I can still see how well the team are doing today and how big they have become,” she says.
Sonia has had many different positions at Amazon since joining in 2008.The opportunity to grow both vertically and laterally within the organisation is her favorite part about working with Amazon. “There are no barriers to growth within Amazon. The learning opportunities are significant, so even if you may feel you have gained as much as you can from a given role in terms of learning, you can then explore laterally and take on new challenges,” she says. “Amazon is the perfect example of how great things can happen and you get to choose what those great things are,” she adds.
When asked about her superpower, her answer is immediate: Speed. “I used to be called Supersonic as a kid, and even now a few of my work colleagues call me this,” she recalls.
Outside of work, Sonia enjoys combining sport and activities with her children. “To remain sporty, I force myself to do crazy dances or sports with my children and literally act like a 4-year-old child and that entertains them as well as keeping me active.”
