We are seeking a Sr Applied Scientist to help our mission to offer the same or better manipulation capabilities at one-tenth the cost. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing a new way of doing robotics, one that seamlessly merges hardware development, simulation, and control theory by using deep-learning.

In this position, you will lead projects to push the frontiers of robotics. This includes developing deep-learning based control, physics based simulations, and real-world hardware building and testing. As an Applied Scientist, you will be directly involved in researching and developing concept-to-production ready solutions to solve some of Amazon’s most challenging material handling problems. For this position, we are seeking a hard-working individual who can solve complex problems in robotic manipulation. Experience researching, developing, and optimizing solutions for manipulation robotics and/or physics-based simulation tools is a plus.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
