Come change the way the world experiences relational databases! Amazon Aurora Serverless is an on-demand, auto-scaling configuration for Amazon Aurora where the database will automatically start up, shut down, and scale capacity up or down based on your application's needs, with no down time. It enables you to run your database in the cloud without managing any database instances. Aurora Serverless builds on top of foundational AWS services such as EC2, S3 and DynamoDB and we are breaking new grounds in revolutionizing relational databases for AWS customers.
We are looking for passionate and curious engineers to innovate with us on behalf of our customers. In this role, you will work with our senior engineers to design and implement systems that orchestrate thousands of databases. You will build a foundational platform consisting of web service APIs and workflows which make Aurora Serverless highly available, scalable, reliable and fast.
This is a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast-growing AWS service, have an impact on the product direction and the shape of the cutting-edge cloud-technology. We count on your technical expertise and eagerness to learn.
Our group is responsible for the design, development, and operations of the Amazon Aurora foundational services that run thousands of customers’ databases worldwide. We pride ourselves on a high level of ownership in the work we do. This means we hold a high bar for test automation, verification processes, design and code reviews to ensure that our systems meet the highly available, scalable and resilient systems expectations. Like many other teams at Amazon, our team operates like a start-up within large organization, which provides opportunity to improve existing or build a new service from scratch and move it through end-to-end development cycle from your idea to multi-region release.
Our team works together to provide work/life balance for all team members. We recognize that the circumstances of our team members vary, and we balance work across the team so that we’re all able to maintain high standards on behalf of our customers, while at the same time allowing for rich and happy personal lives. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We maintain a regular oncall rotation across our teams with engineers and managers all taking part to resolve the issues that arise. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice. We offer hybrid work model and flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find the balance between work and personal live which works best for you!
Mentorship & Career Growth
Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We recognize new team members need time to ramp-up and feel fully comfortable within the team. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. You will have a launch buddy, team member who will help you navigate through onboarding processes, and offer you help and mentorship during your first months with us. You will also get access to trainings, certification, system designs, code-base, and support in fixing a bug that annoys you today, or add new feature you dreamed of! We care about your career growth and strive to help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
