RME Field Managers - EMEA

We have different management roles depending on where you are in your career:

Graduate RME Engineering Manager

As a graduate RME engineering manager, you’re in our entry-level management role, which is designed to allow new graduates the opportunity to become our future leaders. In this role, you’re responsible for delivering a high level of equipment availability by ensuring that all daily routines and preventative maintenance activities are carried out, while following all internal processes and procedures.

Area Manager

As an RME area manager, you supervise a team of technicians. Depending on your focus area, you ensure equipment or facility maintenance and availability. You lead the application of preventative maintenance and continual process optimization, while implementing long-term beneficial projects.

You typically:

  • Lead, support, and mentor the team, ensuring they’re working in a safe, standard, and efficient manner.
  • Use your technical expertise and build solutions across the entire EMEA network.
  • Audit safety and statutory-compliance programs to provide a safe working environment.
  • Implement network standards and focus on preventative maintenance to provide a high level of equipment availability for the maintenance team.
  • Organize and support EMEA-wide projects to scale RME.

Engineering Manager

As an RME Manager, you lead the RME team at the Amazon site where you’re based. Working with the Operations leadership team, you drive engineering solutions across the site. You ensure the plant, facility, and equipment are available. You also make sure that change is effectively managed, process improvement happens, and the building’s RME team has everything it needs to work well and be successful.

You typically:

  • Lead the team, own the team’s annual reporting responsibilities, and mentor your direct reports. They in turn develop the technicians within the team.
  • Work with the site safety department and the site leadership team to implement, record, and audit safety and statutory compliance programs to provide a safe working environment.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to scale RME.
  • Maintain a long-term focus by working alongside site management, finance, engineering teams, and design teams to plan for growth, upgrades, or equipment rollouts.

Ross

RME Area Manager | Gateshead, UK

Ross started his journey at Amazon in as an RME technician in a fulfilment center in Gateshead, England. He quickly progressed to senior RME technician and then was promoted to RME area manager.

In his current role as an RME area manager, Ross takes care of the implementation of network projects and safety actions for his site. He’s proud his team supports more than 15 sites around the world.

His biggest achievement at Amazon has been transitioning from RME technician to RME area manager in a short amount of time. He appreciates the support the whole RME team at Gateshead provided during the transition.

In fact, Ross really values his team and how they constantly drive each other to maintain high standards and a good work ethic, creating an environment they’re all proud of.

Ross and his teammates enjoy fundraising for different charities in England, and they recently completed a 130-mile coast-to-coast bike ride together.

Maya

RME Area Manager | Frankenthal, Germany

Maya’s journey at Amazon began as a graduate engineering manager based in Frankenthal, Germany. This opportunity allowed her to work with several departments within the RME team, visit different sites across Europe, and forge strong professional connections within the network.

Maya is now an RME area manager, overseeing a team of technicians while supporting the launch of an Amazon robotic site.

“My primary focus is hiring and developing the best engineers and ensuring they attain the highest knowledge standards through meticulous planning and organization of training programs to enhance their skills.”

Maya’s proudest achievement at Amazon was being promoted to RME Area Manager. What she likes most about Amazon is the sense of being valued, being sought for support, and having the opportunity to provide such support.
