  • Launch

GES delivers projects across North America, South America, Europe, and emerging markets - building and optimizing the facilities that power Amazon’s operations worldwide.

Delivering excellence from planning to day one operations

  • Project planning

Strong project foundations begin with coordinated planning across teams. From day one, five core groups collaborate to shape each project’s direction: PMO, EP&A, D&C, Startup, and Ops Engineering.

This early alignment ensures clear objectives, efficient execution, and successful delivery.

  • Execution

The project execution phase focuses on delivering against established plans. PMO, D&C, Startup, and Ops Engineering coordinate internal resources and external vendors, ensuring successful project completion.

This approach minimizes risks, maintains quality standards, and keeps projects on schedule.

  • Launch

The final project phase prepares the site for launch. GES leads this critical transition, ensuring all systems and spaces are ready for day one. Our work enables a smooth handover to field operations teams, associates, drivers, and other operational staff.

This process minimizes disruption, maintains safety standards, and ensures the site can begin serving customers efficiently.

Learn about types of roles within GES

  • Program management

Program managers (PMs) work cross-functionally to improve cost savings, delivery speed, customer satisfaction, and vendor management. They analyze large data sets to uncover insights and develop strategic solutions. Thriving in ambiguity, PMs think big while diving deep into details, transforming data-driven insights into strategies that create impact across the organization.

  • Tech design

Our tech teams harness data analytics and automation to drive decision-making and process improvement. We build scalable data systems and reporting frameworks that deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.

The teams design web tools for internal problem-solving, optimize processes, and maintain robust data infrastructure through modeling, pipeline management, and database administration.

  • Procurement

We build and manage global supply chains that drive business growth, reduce risk, and deliver cost savings. Through innovative solutions and strategic partnerships, our five specialized teams—Procurement Operations, Category Management, Startup Launch Procurement, Indirect Supply Chain Optimization and Reinvent, and the Indirect Supply Chain Operation Center—transform how we operate worldwide.

  • Design and construction

Construction managers oversee warehouse development from design to completion, coordinating with vendors, subcontractors, and engineers. They manage all project phases including pre-construction planning, cost estimation, procurement, and quality control. The role requires expertise in commercial/industrial construction, budget management, contractor oversight, site safety, and facility launch.

  • Start-up management

A start-up project manager leads warehouse expansion and facility launches, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining rigorous quality standards. They orchestrate the entire expansion process, from initial planning through final execution, partnering with stakeholders across all organizational levels. Success requires proven experience in industrial facility launches and cross-functional team leadership.

  • Engineering

Operations engineers lead complex material handling equipment projects in our warehouses, from installation to upgrades. They manage all aspects of capital equipment deployment, including design coordination, vendor relationships, equipment specifications, and process optimization. The role demands expertise in site layout, budget control, scheduling, change management, commissioning, and customer handover.

  • Launch management

The launch team plays a crucial role in both pre- and post-launch phases, ensuring new sites are optimally designed and engineered to support associate success.

The team meticulously evaluates facility layouts, workflows, and equipment specifications to incorporate best practices. This comprehensive approach enables associates to perform at their best and deliver exceptional results.
