Amazon HQ2

Amazon’s East Coast headquarters are located just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. in Arlington, Virginia. Arlington is a buzzing hub famous for its active lifestyle and young, hip population. With more than 60 neighborhoods that combine both city living and small-town feel, Arlington has something for everyone.

HQ2 campus

Amazon selected Arlington, Virginia as the location for its second headquarters in 2018. Amazon HQ2 is an investment of more than $2.5 billion and will result in 25,000 new Amazon jobs. It will also support thousands of indirect jobs across the region.

Our employees and the neighboring community are already benefiting from associated investments from the Commonwealth, including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and planned access to Reagan National Airport.

We’re thankful for the welcome that Arlington neighbors, elected officials, civic leaders, local businesses, and nonprofits have extended to us. With their guidance, we’ve donated tens of millions of dollars to local nonprofit organizations. For example, we announced a $2 billion Housing Equity Fund that will help preserve and create more than 1,300 affordable homes in Arlington’s National Landing neighborhood. We’re working in partnership with the Washington Housing Conservancy, and there are more investments to come.

Metropolitan Park

Metropolitan Park, Phase 1 of our HQ2 development, includes 2.1 million square feet of energy-efficient office space. There are state-of-the-art workspaces and green outdoor terraces for our employees in two 22-story towers, named Jasper and Merlin.

This phase also includes public parks and playgrounds, retail space for 14 locally owned businesses, and amenities for the community, including a half mile of protected bike lanes and additional pedestrian walkways.

Dogs at work

The Dogs at Work (DAW) program is an employee benefit administered by Amazon Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) in collaboration with Amazon Human Resources. Offered at select corporate sites throughout North America, the program supports Amazonians bringing their dogs to work in a safe way.
