Online assessment prep for Applied Science Interns

As a current university student, you have multiple opportunities to innovate and solve real-world, complex technical and business problems at Amazon. Our interviews for student and graduate roles within the Applied Sciences are designed to identify candidates who have the technical proficiency and behavioral skills required to help us achieve our mission to be Earth’s most customer-centric company.

If you’re interested in the evaluation process for non-university roles, visit the Interviewing at Amazon page.

OA overview for Applied Science Interns

The online assessment (OA) consists of a coding assessment and a work styles assessment. The coding assessment includes a coding section using C, C++, C#, Go, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Objective C, Python, or R. It will take approximately 70 minutes to complete.

During the coding section, you may use online resources that are publicly accessible (e.g., the JDK or STL). Use the Coding Demo site to review two practice questions on the platform.

Browser usage is logged. Don’t access sites that require a login or are private repositories.

Review all the sections on this page (including the FAQ), which includes all instructions you need to follow before, during, and after completing your OA.

Computer setup

Ensure you’re taking the OA on a laptop or desktop computer. We don’t recommend mobile devices or tablets due to limited functionality and user-interface experience.

After you complete the OA

After you submit the OA, a confirmation page displays to verify that you completed the assessment and thank you for your participation. If you don’t see this page after 2 minutes, close your browser.

If you don’t receive a completion email within 24 hours of completing the OA, reach out to your Amazon recruiting contact.

Accommodations

Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. We not only celebrate the diversity of our workforce, we also celebrate the diverse ways we work.

If you’d like to request an accommodation for the interview or onboarding process, reach out to our recruiting team, and they’ll connect you to our accommodations team. You may also reach them directly.

The ACAT (Applicant Candidate Accommodation Team) is designed to remove barriers to employment for our external applicant-candidate customers with disabilities.

We ensure equal employment opportunities to applicants and candidates with disabilities by providing reasonable accommodations during the application and hiring process.

ACAT will actively partner with Recruiting, Human Resources, and Hiring teams to drive innovative accommodation solutions and raise the bar on disability inclusion within the pre-employment process.
